There are a lot of things to do at the end of year.

I intended to clean up my flat today but I was lazy and relax today. Maybe, I will do tomorrow… Also I will prepare for New Year’s dish tomorrow…

“Kuwai” (arrowhead tuber), which has its sprout is considered a fortunate food. Since I missed out on buying it last year, I bought it early this year.

Before New Year though, with fresh Kuwai I made chips. Kuwai has tender taste like potato but has some bitter flavor as root vegetable. Crispy chips maintain bot the mildness and a bit of bitterness. They are really good.

To start the new year I decorated “Shimenawa” (sacred straw rope) and “Kagami-mochi” (round rice cake offered to the god). After New Year week, “Shimenawa” will be offered to the shrine and “Kagami-moch” will be broken and eaten.

I bought the same Shimenawa as the one I bought, decorated and offered to the shrine last year. I did not know that until I saw my blog I wrote a year ago.
