In summer, my balcony needs bamboo screens to keep out too much sunlight.
My screens hung during each summer became so old that I bought the new one this year.
The old bamboo screen is called Sudare, which is made by knitting strips of bamboo or reed together with string. It is hung by the window and sometimes rolled up to control the amount of sunlight. On the other hand, the new one I bought this year is Yoshizu made with thick reed. The heavy and strong hand-made screen is stood against the windows.
My balcony looks cool and rustic.
This summer I plan to grow cucumbers. Using a seedling pot, I planted seeds today.
Last year I grew a lot of bitter gourds.
I hope this year, I can get lots of cucumbers!!!
