Every spring I picked up fallen Sakura flower petals and press them. This year too I got some petals and pressed them with some heavy hard cover books, looking forward to seeing the pink color preserved. But it turned to be dark brown today.
Flower pressing is simple. I used to enjoy it when I was a little child. After growing up, I did not do for a long time but I did not have any trouble when I suddenly tried to do again.
In these few years I made flower pressing and I was satisfied with my accomplishment. So I never doubted my success this year.
The cause of the failure was that I did not stick to the simple and easy basics. Instead using some sheets of newspaper, I used only a single piece of paper towel. I thought the white paper was highly absorbent and could not stain pink petals. I have never seen newspaper stain pink flower petals though…
I will do the same way as I was doing as a child next year.
