I bought Japanese candles.

The wick of a Japanese candle is made by rolling Washi (Japanese traditional handmade paper), not a thread.

Rush grass was spirally wrapped around the wick and Japan tallow extracted from sumac nuts is manually poured around them. All materials are natural plants. Neither mineral or animal products are used.

Since the wick (rolled paper) is hallow, the flame of the candle is slightly waving when the candle is lit and warm air flows. It is really mysterious.

This is one of the traditional crafts which should be kept being made and used.
