Before a hot summer arrives, we have a rainy season for about a month. In late years, however, rainy season is associated with more changeable weather rather than long rain, I think!
When it rains, it is cool or sometimes slightly cold but the rain continues only for a day or two. Then the temperature sores to 30 degrees Celsius the next day. Our automatic nerves must be hectic to control our body temperatures each day.
Every year I wash the balcony and outside of windows during rainy season. It is best to use Kaercher when it is drizzling because it is difficult to completely suppress splashing to the neighborhood.
The recent changeable weather is suitable to wash the balcony. After washing the balcony, the rain stopped.
Gari (Pickled Ginger)
Ginger is harvested at this time of year. I made Gari by thinly slicing new ginger and pickling them in sugared vinegar. Gari is necessary to enjoy sushi. The new ginger turns pink without coloring when being pickled in vinegar.
The sourness eases the tiredness of those who work in the hot sun.
