In my younger days, there was not enough money to travel abroad. After becoming to earn my own living, there was no time to think of a long trip. I was work-centered.
Gradually, having room to think of how to spend time besides working, even cheap short-term trip was a supreme delight. During those cheap trips, everything was new and fun. On the day before the return trip, I used to stay up all night, feeling sad about the end of the trip.
Last week, I stayed in Los Angeles for five nights. Still it is difficult to take a long holiday, but I can afford a bit expensive trip. On the other hand, I am becoming nervous about everything with age. The first trip abroad in a while made me more nervous. Besides, the security was not very good in the subway. As a travel beginner, the subway is the easiest way to explore the town, though.
It was true that Los Angeles was a very attractive. There are soaring skyscrapers and fashionable buildings. Tall tropical trees stand on both sides of wide roads. It was hot but the cool breeze was blowing under the shade of trees. The town looked bright and clear under the sun. It was exciting. Under such a good condition, I found myself less inspired than when I was young.
I used to enjoy staying at a cheap, (maybe not very safe) hotel, and using subway even in some unsafe areas. There were sometimes small troubles but each trip gave me a brad range of experiences. After that, I could gain a sense of accomplishment.
So, let’s keep mind fresh like when I was young!
It was good to travel alone for the first time in a while.
